Trike is fine  positive the axle has moved in the dropouts so just a case of loosening a few bolts and getting everything back in line .My shoulder on the other hand is a mess with the arm broken just below the ball and the socket shattered into many pieces which means reconstruction may not be possible but they are going to scan it to see if it is as bad as it looks on the x-ray and then make a decision .

Lordy. What happens to arm mobility if socket reconstruction is not feasible?

Really sorry to hear that Paul. I am sure we will all be keeping our fingers crossed that the medics will be able to do something to repair the damage. Please let us know how things go, you will be in all our thoughts.

I know it does not help you at  the moment but I had a similar breakage, it was a trike accident on zig zag hill outside Shaftsbury the zig was fine but the zag got me!. It was very painful at the time and followup surgery fitted lots of pins and other metalwork to put it all back together but within a year no pain and almost full mobility (cannot scratch my back quite as far down with my right arm).

So be positive they can do amazing stuff now.
Alan

PS my trike was OK, tough little buggers aren't they!

All the best for a speedy recovery!!

I came off as I was hurtling towards a lamp post but missed it somehow. Ended up with 3 cracked ribs. I hate getting cracked ribs... all that pain when coughing or laughing for 3 weeks.

The consultant says I should have a decent range of motion if they leave it to heal as it is but he hasn't said how much and didn't answer when I asked if I would be still be able to ride a bike , though that doesn't mean much as doctors , consultants etc never like to commit to a definitive answer unless its a 100% certainty .

Thanks everyone for the well wishes as well  positive they are much appreciated .

Generally I've found them to be quite pessimistic in general if pushed on questions like this.Gets you used to expecting a poor out come ;then any improvement on that is a bonus. That better than working the scenario t'other way round.

Well they finally made a decision and have screwed and/or plated the shoulder I swear I'm in more pain now than when I broke it  Sad but hopefully this will speed up the healing process and I can get back on the trike  positive

Paul hope the op goes well, think on the bright side people pay a lot of money for Titanium bits and they will not add much to your 'racing weight'. About a year after my op I went back for day surgery to have the metal bits out, they looked useful at the time but years later I still have them!
